Jerusalem – PNN – A poll released on Tuesday by the Israel Democratic Institute showed that 53% of Jewish citizens would prefer to see Arabs leave Israel.

More that half of the Jewish Israelis polled; believe that the state of Israel has the right to encourage Arab citizens to emigrate.

The study also found that 55% said Jewish cities should receive more government resources than Arab communities. Over 62 of Jewish Israelis said that as long as there is a conflict with Palestine, the state should not take into account Israeli Arab opinions in regards to foreign policy.

However, 51% of those polled said that Israeli Arabs and Jews should have equal rights and 54 percent of Israelis said that they believe legal action should not be taken against citizens who speak up against and the state.

The study also found a high correlation between the levels of religious activity and the belief that Israeli Arabs should have different rights. Russian immigrants were shown to be the least liberal population.

The study was conducted by six researchers and compiled their answers from public opinion polls that question over 1200 people.
