Iraqis protest having Saturday off

...The war against Iraq and Iraqis continues. A couple of weeks ago the Iraqi "government", assigned by the occupation forces, decided to make Saturday part of the official weekend. Why Saturday? Why not Thursday as all the other Islamic Countries are? (except in Jordan, in case we want to count it as Islamic or Arab). It is more regular, and culturally appropriate, to make Friday as THE holiday, and Thursday as an additional weekend day or at least a half working day, so that people can leave work early and get ready for the Thursday's eve. The Bush administration decided to make Saturday as the day off, they didn't even wait until the fake Iraqi "elected" government started functioning!...

Iraqis protest having Saturday off

Raed Jarra, Raed in the Middle

Tuesday, March 01, 2005

The white house spokesman asked Syria to pull out their forces from Lebanon, because free and fair elections cannot be held under occupation!

doesn't this sound familiar a bit?
Elections, Occupation, Helloooo?

Another country just had elections some weeks ago, and still having dozens of people killed in the streets daily. I felt sad to hear about the 100 Iraqi policemen and soldiers that were killed today in Hilla. I'm sure most of those people didn't have the chance to choose other jobs because of the bad situation in Iraq. I'm sure most of them didn't understand they are taking a part in this war against Iraq.

The war against Iraq and Iraqis continues.

The Bush administration decided to make Saturday as the day off, they didn't even wait until the fake Iraqi "elected" government started functioning!

Secular people, marginalized by the Bush administration, may think this is a part of adding Iraq to the globalized economy, trying to synchronize working days, the same excuse given in Jordan.

Religious people, supported by the Bush administration, have other things to say:

"We don't want Saturday! It's a Jewish holiday!"

"We declare a general strike in the University of Mustansariyah to reject this decision and any decision aimed at depriving Iraqis of their identity,"

"Sadr City is a Shia Islamic city and we reject Saturday being our holiday because it is related to the Jewish weekend"

By the way, who asked little bushy to make an additional weekend day?
I didn't.
