The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city reported a source in the Iraqi army – which was deployed in significant numbers Wednesday morning because of the US offensive on al-Hadithah – said that the explosion severely damaged an American Humvee, killing three US troops and wounding two other American soldiers.

After the attack, US forces surrounded the area and brought in helicopters to recover the wounded. The dead were taken by Humvee to the US 'Ayn al-Asad airbase.

Humanitarian group: 170,000 Iraqi homeless thanks to US military operations.

The Iraqi Association for Aid to Victims of Military Operations announced that more than 170,000 Sunni Iraqis in the areas of al-Anbar Province, Samarra’, Mosul, and al-Basrah had been displaced by occupation forces, members of the Iraqi puppet army, and the pro-Ameican Shi'i militia that is helping rule Iraq for the US occupation.

An announcement by the Association, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported that tens of thousands of Sunnis have now been living in tents and abandoned government buildings and school play grounds, and some in the Iraqi western desert for more than a year. They were made homeless when US forces destroyed or took over their homes in the course of their various offensives, and families have not been compensated for the losses, despite claims by the US-installed Baghdad regime that it was paying out compensation.

The Association said that the lives of 80 percent of those homeless people are in danger due to their living environments and the lack of water and food. The report said that what aid they do receive from Arab countries and Sunni Iraqi support agencies is only sufficient for 40 percent of the victims.
