Iraqi casualties increased by 31% in March

Statistics released by a group of Iraqi ministries indicate that 1,720 Iraqis were killed during March 2008, including 923 civilians, 156 security elements, and 641 gunmen. This represents an increase of 31% compared to the statistics from February 2008. Baghdad, Apr 1, (VOI) – Statistics released by a group of Iraqi ministries indicate that 1,720 Iraqis were killed during March 2008, including 923 civilians, 156 security elements, and 641 gunmen.
This represents an increase of 31% compared to the statistics from February 2008.

The document, prepared by the Iraqi Ministries of Defense, Interior, and Health, which was received by Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI) shows that during March 2008, "923 civilians were killed, in addition to 102 policemen, 54 soldiers, and 641 gunmen."
It added "4,140 people were wounded in March 2008, including 1,358 civilians, and 273 security elements."
The statistics also referred that 2,505 armed men were arrested in March 2008.
The latest clashes in Baghdad and a number of Iraq's southern provinces contributed to this steep increase.
