Gaza – Ma’an – Sixteen out of the 28 killed in Israeli airstrikes since New Year’s Eve were children; nine were from the same family, nine of the adults killed were women.

The percentage of Israeli casualties that are children in 2009 is 57%.

On Friday the bodies of the Rayan family children were buried, and Palestinian medical sources confirmed the deaths of three more Palestinians under 17.

Seven Palestinians have been killed since midnight Thursday bringing the death toll to 428 and the injured to 2,220 on day seven of the Israeli operation.

The day’s strikes were reported as follows:

A’qel is one of the assistants to general leader of the brigades Ahmad Al-Ja’bari.

2:15pm Three were killed in an airstrike on Al-Qarara village in southern Gaza.

I am not a supporter of the gutter kind of cowardly warfare that seeks to intent ionally target innocent civilians. This is what the terrorist organizations empl oy. In my opinion warfare should be conducted against Government and military t argets. And yes civilians will be hurt but, they should not be the target. As r elates to the pity party for the Palestinian people. Many forget that they voted Hamas into power. Kinda makes a difference about who is an innocent civilian here.

Regarding Israel & their treatment of the indigenous people of Palestine, I reco gnize that there’s little an under-armed population can do to ‘resist’ tyranny i n the form of strike aircraft, smart bombs and tanks, however, if one looks ‘up’ at one of those F16s carrying out genocide long enough, one might just notice i n passing, telephone & power lines. Every now and then down the line there’s a transformer. Similar lines power Israel and their illegal settlements.

Transformers are rather fickle when someone puts a few bullets in them. French resistance fighters were known for cutting German communications lines during th eir war of liberation but with cell communications that’s a bit problematic in t his century. That said, ‘power’ is still transmitted over lines that often run through the middle of no where. One needs only knock out the transformers and were one to do it in numerous locations, on a daily basis, the Israelis might get a small taste of what Gaza and other overrun and occupied areas are feeling.

Striking their infrastructure rather than their people also affords more opportu nity for disrupting their lives more than a car bomb which, at best, wrecks a ci ty block. It’s also more likely carried out without loss of Palestinian lives.

Further, these rockets certain folks are lobbing around appear to have zero accu racy and less ‘effect’ than a car crash. Hitting the broad side of a barn also seems to be a challenge - they are non effective means of resistance. I would s uggest detaching and using their warheads more effectively by attaching them to major power lines & cell towers. Again, disrupt their infrastructure, especially their power grid.

Finally, where are pro-palestinian computer experts? Hacking computer systems s eems to be an art form these days. At the least I would be spamming every Israe li email system I could identify. At best, again, go after their power grid, tr affic systems, ports and foreign commerce. This is also something that civilian s (or friendly governments) well outside Palestine can do to help you. This could be done from ‘anywhere’ on the planet - well beyond their F16s.

Their aggression will stop when their PEOPLE tell their government to stop - not before. Take away their cozy lifestyle, shut off their lights, heat & air cond itioning. Shut down their internet, their traffic lights, their cafes. Cut pow er to their grocery stores and freezers rather than blowing up a few of their pe ople and you’ll see them get a change of heart.

Gaza is about 130 square miles. the city proper of edmonton it 270
square miles, Gaza has about 1.2 million refugees, edmonton
has 1 million within it's area. that includes towns and other cities
within 600 square miles. i can't imagine, isrl calling for an air defence agains t us, let alone such a crowded area like gaza. Isrl
is proving to be a terrorist state and needs to be dismatled.

You know what..this is horrendous. First of all, this is horrible that these dea d people (women, children, men) are being exploited by showing their dead bodies on the internet. I am praying for their souls right now. I know I don't underst and the full length of what is going on in this country, but I DO know that we c an all do our part by not exploiting the dead. it is just barbaric

You said in your article, The percentage of Israeli casualties that are children in 2009 is 57%." Did you mean Palestinian casualties? As a writer you need to be clear what you are saying. I am assuming you meant 57% of 'Israeli air stri ke victims', but that is not what you wrote. I shouldn't have to get out a calc ulator to figure out what you are trying to convey.

While I am sure we all agree that all death is tragic, and the entire situation is a shame- it seems to me that the media isn't giving Isreal fair coverage.
Isreal gave up Gaza, and the West Bank in hopes of peace, and now Humas is using Gaza as a launch site to reach further into the suburbs of Isreal.
Terrorists intentionally target, and kill people in the general population in or der to cause terror, and that is what Humas is doing. On the other hand, Isreal is charged with the mission of defending these people by killing war lords, and generals who surround themselves with families and fire rocket propelled grenade s from their backyards. Isreal is not in the wrong in their current actions, and if you have a problem with the loss of civilian life, then perhaps your problem is with the cowardly tactics of Humas, and not Isreal.
If you were a known leader of an organization who was carrying out terror attack s on a nation capable of bombing the hell out of you, and anyone surrounding you - would you be comfortable having your loved ones and close relatives around you ?

No counttry in the world would put up with rockets threatening its citizens with out doing something about it.

No Armed forces hides behind their women and children except Muslim terrorists l ike Hammas and Hezbolah, and then shoot rockets from crowded apartments, and whe n IDF responds, cry to the world that the IDF are killing their women and childr en.

I am very sorry for these dead innoncents. Lets put the people responsible on trial. The Hammas. The Hezbolah. Those creeps should be hung from trees.

The IDF, follows a strict code of honor - preserve life at all costs... they war n civilians and avoid bombing civilians as much as they can.... Thanks G'd.

War is never a good thing but it always takes two to tango. From what Ive gather ed many people are detesting Israel for their military actions and the killing o f many innocent civilians which is only collateral (sp) damage. The loss of life anywhere is tragic, however laying the blame on Israel is proposterous.

So it is okay for Hamas to send rockets across the border on a daily basis with no target in particular, just shooting rockets to kill (anything). That seems ve ry wreckless, atleast Israel is strategically targeting Hamas leaders and traini ng camps, they are not directly attacking civilians. If Hamas continued to pound Israel with these random missiles and Israel were to not react, Hamas would then strengthen their efforts seeing there was no resistance to begin with.

Israel has a duty to protect its citizens from attacks, foriegn and from abroad. If Israel let Hamas kill their citizens when would it ever stop. Maybe there wo uld be another Mumbai attrocity, but acted upon Israel. They dont send random ro cket volleys across the border anywhere and if anyone was doing this their gover nment would step in and stop any non sanctioned attacks.

Hamas has continually broken this peace treaty and will continue to do so with t he result being more innocent casualties and strengthend attacks. Someone has to break this viscious cycle.

Hmm, something to that; Gaza is a Kosher slaughterhouse specializing in human ca ttle who at this time are called Palestinian.

Future supplies will draw on African and European stock until uneconomic, while equally tasty Asian will be reserved until last.

Products currently on offer include battered and barbecued Palestinian, whole or dismembered.

Resupplied with fresh kill daily. Veal in plentiful supply.

Stock older than a day will be sold as pet food.

Unsold pet food will be worm food.

Yesterday's kill on special.

Where is the need to fight the Jews. They do not lock Jerusalem or Al Aqsa like Saudis cling on to the Mecca. I dont understand y cry over children who are any ways going to get into trouble with the Israelis because their parents never wan ted peace. Do not forget waht Islamists do to their vitims in cold blood and del iberatley.
