Ar-Ramadi.

Fierce battle rages in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm local time Monday evening, the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in ar-Ramadi reported that fierce fighting was raging as he wrote his report between US forces backed by their puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard" stooges on one side and the Iraqi Resistance on the other. The battle was raging in the neighborhoods of at-Ta'mim, al-Mal`ab, al-Iskan, Jisr al-Warrar – areas to the east and west and in the center of the city.

The correspondent reported that Resistance forces had killed or wounded more than 54 US troops and destroyed nine Humvees and one armored vehicle. They had also set five vehicles belonging to the puppet guards ablaze. The correspondent described the fighting as of the greatest intensity. A whole unit of the puppet guards fled at one point from the battle field. The correspondent wrote that he personally saw US soldiers fleeing before the Resistance fighters who appeared determined to fight to the death.

US fighter planes and helicopters bombarded positions of the fighters but inflicted no particular losses on them. In the midst of the fighting, the correspondent met with the commander of the Asad Allah al-Ghalib `Ali ibn Abi Talib Resistance organization who said, "We have been able to assert our authority over them [the Americans]. They're now in the trap. The dog has fallen into the hunter's trap. We drew them into a narrow area where it's easier for us to move around. God willing, I will have good news to bring you."

The correspondent wrote that at that moment the local mosques were broadcasting the call "God is Greatest!" "Allahu akbar!" and prayers for victory from God, and that He make the Resistance fighters aim precise. The fighting in the at-Ta'mim neighborhood is the most intense, the correspondent wrote, with bodies of dead Americans and puppet guards littering the whole length of the road.

The correspondent wrote that word had just come in from the as-Sikak neighborhood that the Americans had released a gas that causes choking and melts flesh. He reported that there was no word on the extent of casualties among the Resistance fighters or civilians. A doctor in ar-Ramadi Hospital told the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam that so far there had been four civilian deaths, two of them children; and six Resistance fighters martyred, including one youth aged only 16 who died fighting. Asked what exactly he meant by that, the doctor said that the youth killed an aggressor soldier as he himself was dying. His companions were unable to wrench the machine gun out of the dead youth's grip, and the doctor had to do it in the hospital by force and with hot water.

US forces have sealed off all entrances and exits to ar-Ramadi. Witnesses report that a massive American force is headed towards the embattled city from al-Khalidiyah in the east.

Al-Qa'im.

He said that 11 American troops were killed in the attack and two Humvees that had been parked at the scene were destroyed.

The correspondent reported that one soldier who had been on duty at the post survived the attack with moderate wounds. US helicopters arrived on the scene afterwards and evacuated the bodies of the dead. Local residents reported finding the completely charred body of the martyrdom attacker nearly 50 meters from the blast site. They buried him in the Martyrs' cemetery.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after the strike, all one could see of the base was smoke and fire. Sirens wailed in all parts of the facility. The correspondent said that after the sound of the rockets exploding in the base came the sound of secondary explosions as American munitions began detonating. US helicopters were called in to try to extinguish the fires that raged in the camp afterwards.

An Iraqi sharpshooter shot and killed a US soldier near the Sukkaniya area in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah. Witnesses told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that the dead American soldier, who was hit in the temple, was stopped in a long line trying to organize fuel ration distribution for cars. The Resistance sharpshooter was perched on a building opposite the fuel station where the American was shot, witnesses reported.

After the shooting, US troops closed the fuel station and completely surrounded the area. They searched tall buildings in the area and found one empty bullet casing and a piece of paper on which was written, "What has been taken by blood, cannot be regained except by blood. Baghdad sniper."

An officer in the puppet "oil facilities protection service" in the area of the fuel station confirmed this report, saying that the piece of paper was found but that they were unable to locate the sniper. Demonstrators protest being excluded from elections by US client parties.

Hundreds of Iraqi Assyrian Christians, Turcomans, and Yazidis took part in a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the US occupation in the Republican Palace area in Baghdad – known to the invaders as the "green zone" to protest the fact that Kurdish chauvinist parties installed in northern Iraq by the United States, prevented them from casting their ballots in the sham "election" rigged up by the Americans on 30 January.

Reports issued by the Assyrian World Information Agency, voice of the Assyrian Christians, said that the Kurdistan Democratic Party prevented ballot boxes from being delivered to six main Assyrian cities and villages in the Mosul area.

William Wardah a spokesman for the Chaldean Assyrian Christians said that interference by the Kurdish chauvinist allies of Washington prevented 200,000 persons from voting. Protestors carried signs saying "We demand our democratic rights and reject marginalization."

Preliminary results of the sham election indicated on Monday that the joint list of Kurdish chauvinist parties had taken second place in the voting held 30 January after the list sponsored by pro-American Shi`i clerics. The list backed by US-installed "prime minister" Iyyad `Allawi came in third.

Iraqi Resistance forces detonated a roadside bomb in the path of a US military column on a dirt road in the city of al-Yusufiyah at 8am time Monday morning. Local eyewitnesses told the correspondent that the American column concisted of four military vehicles, and that the blast totally destroyed one Humvee, killinf four American troops and moderately wounding a fifth.

The correspondent wrote that US forces sealed off the area of the attack, reinforcing themselves with more armored and other vehicles. Helicopters flew over the area to search for the Resistance attackers. US forces carried out a wave of house raids and arrests in houses neighboring the street where the attack took place. Occupation forces produced a quantity of weapons – including anti-tank weapons from the houses, as well as medium-weight machine guns. In his dispatch posted at 12:42pm Monday Mecca time, the correspondent wrote that the Americans still surrounded the scene of the attack as US helicopters were continuing to remove the bodies of the dead Americans from the wreckage.

The powerful blast left a very deep crater in the road, according to the local correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam, forcing traffic to be diverted to another street.

The Board of Muslim `Ulama' [Scholars] issued a statement Monday condemning the treatment of prisoners in the US concentration camp Bucca in Umm Qasr, southern Iraq. At a press conference held in Baghdad, Shaykh `Abd as-Sattar al-Kubaysi, member of the Board of Muslim `Ulama' read paragraphs from a letter of one Bucca prisoner, describing their suffering.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Shaykh al-Kubaysi as saying "one form of torture is breaking prisoners' legs, another form of torture is to crush the prisoner's fingers, yet another form of torture is to put prisoners in freezers for many hours."

"Moreover," the Shaykh went on, "they compel some of them [the prisoners] to commit the crime of fornication. And also American male and female soldiers do "an ugly thing" on the heads of the prisoners. And they [the prisoners] are also exposed to extremely bright lights, and to very raucous loud noises that the ears cannot bear to hear."
