Unexplained killings and suicide bombings targeting civilians, more collaborators killed, oil exports shut down again, collaborators and occupiers kill at checkpoints, and loose cash in the Wild Mideast. Photos From Iraq; February 11 – 20, 2005.

Army Specialist Sabrina Harman poses above the body of Manadel al-Jamadi, who was tortured to death by CIA interrogators at Abu Ghraib in November of 2003. He died when the Americans broke his ribs, cuffed his hands behind his back, and then hung him from them. They call it "the Palestinian position", as it is used extensively by Israel.

On February 11, masked assassins stormed two bakeries in Baghdad, killing at least 11 people. Despite the complete lack of any evidence, American media claimed that the attack was a strike by Sunni resistance fighters against random Shias; but obviously there was more to the story. The Salvador Option < http://www.uruknet.info/?p=m9022 >?

The next day saw a four-hour battle between anti-occupation fighters and American soldiers in Mosul. The Americans killed 9 people, who they claimed were 'insurgents’, but admitted no casualties of their own.

Collaborators decided to attack this car, and the man who was driving it, in Baghdad on February 13. AP made no attempt to explain why this happened, reporting only that the driver was injured but alive.

Occupation soldiers invite themselves into someone’s house in Mosul, on the same day, after someone took a few shots at their convoy.

Also in Mosul on the 13th, several collaborators were found murdered. This man was left in a street with a sign reading 'special forces.’

These two worked as advisors to the Coalition Provisional Authority, the civilian Occupation, in 2003. The one on the left, Frank Willis, testified to congress that the CPA paid contractors by driving around Baghdad in a pickup truck with gunnysacks full of cash. He said he called it "the Wild West". Two weeks ago a report found that the CPA 'lost track’ of about nine billion dollars, as it used virtually no accounting.

Sajid Yasin grieves over the body of his nephew Mauth Mohammed, killed by a mortar in Samarra on Feburary 14. AP did not mention who fired the mortar.

Sabotage on Iraq’s oil installations resumed recently after a short lull – this one was near Kirkuk, also on the 14th.

Two days later, a pipeline was hit in a village near Beiji, shutting down exports from the northern oil fields

A carbomb in Mosul hit a US armored vehicle on the 16th, injuring at least four soldiers. The man on the left was reportedly chanting "Long life, Saddam Hussein" at the scene.

Iraqis run for their lives as American soldiers arrive on the scene and start shooting in Ramadi. Anti-occupation fighters accused the man in the foreground of being a spy, and shot him. He later died in a hospital.

Iraqis are lined up against a wall while being held by US occupation soldiers in Mosul, during an "identification raid" on February 17.

Suicide bombers on foot reportedly targeted Shia Muslim Iraqis on Friday the 18 killing 36 people. This man, Aqil, grieves over his brother’s coffin in Baghdad after he was killed in one of the bombings at a mosque.

More senseless attacks occured the next day. One of the suicide bombings on Saturday hit a tent full of Sunnis…

…while another hit a public bus. Saturday’s bombings were not all directed at the Shia, however, despite what you might hear on CNN. While fanatics killed random civilians in Baghdad, other actions targeted collaborators and Americans, killing several-but those pictures are much harder to find.

"Unidentified foreign security forces" shot up this car, killing a woman and injuring her companion in the Amiriyah area of Baghdad on February 20, 2005.
